Noriega Demands Saddam-style Execution

Former military strongman Manuel Antonio Noriega is suing the United States government demanding that he be executed "just like Saddam."
With Panamanian officials currently discussing his future with the US government, the former dictator, America's only prisoner of war, is "sick and tired" of being ignored by the media and "rotting away" in a prison cell, he told Bananama Republic.
"I'm always mentioned together with Saddam when they write about rogue leaders and America's enemies. But Saddam got all the attention and a high-profile execution. It's just not fair," complained Noriega, who claims that he prefers to be hanged rather than spend his life in oblivion. "I've always been a focal point of media attention, and taking that away on top of my freedom is a violation of my rights."
His lawyer, Frank Rubino, commented that a public hanging of Noriega would do justice to the colorful and important role of his client in US history. "The analogy with Saddam has merit," Rubino said. "Both were dictators who went from being allies to enemies and both provoked invasions of their respective countries."
"But where Saddam received daily coverage while in jail and was being flown around in helicopters and such, my client just sits there, being completely ignored."
The French request for extradition is no solution, claims Rubino. "It will just be more of the same, further away from the arena where Noriega wrote history,"
In Panama, the general has been convicted for several murders. Noriega, angrily: "In Florida I would get the death penalty. Saddam got the death penalty. Why not me?"
And he adds: "Hell, I'm even responsible for the deaths of American citizens. That should count for something."
