Balbina's Resignation as Minister Leaves Fire Department Without Work

Fires like this one in Curundu don't happen
any more now that Balbina is gone.
If it weren't for the occasional antique helicopter crashing on poor neighborhoods, Panama City's Fire Department would have very little to do now that Balbina has resigned as Minister of Housing to dedicate herself to her presidential campaign. Observers noted that while Balbina was in charge of housing, a surprising amount of houses in poor neighborhoods such as Curundu went up in flames; a phenomenon that ended with Balbina's resignation.
Of course, Balbina was a member of the so-called "Dignity Battalions", Noriega's goon squads, which set fire on El Chorillo during the North American invasion in 1989.
The founding father of these Battalions, Comandante Benjamin Colamarco, is now of course Minister of Public Works. He has other, even more drastic plans for Panama City's poor areas. We're told that the Cinta Coimera is going to be extended through El Chorillo, so that more coastline becomes available for the government's friends to be developed with money laundering narco-towers.
