anonymouspty [dropcap type="circle" color="#ffffff" background="#e53b2c"]T[/dropcap]he shocking revelations over the last days of massive corruption at the highest levels have so far not brought people to the streets, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any protests going on.

In an apparent payback operation for the reported attack on the La Prensa website on Wednesday, the Panama chapter of the hacktivist group Anonymous announced on Twitter that it had brought down the website of the Super99 supermarket chain:

We tried, and indeed the website could not be reached.

Super99 is owned by Panama's president Ricardo Martinelli. He started out in the supermarket business with the help of Panama's former dictator Manuel Antonio Noriega.

Anonymous, in other tweets, said that this was not an attack, "it was a warning".

  1. Hell, yeah! Now if only a Panamanian Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, or Rafael Correa would rise up and win the 2014 elections. Regular, hard-working people outnumber the f—ing rabiblancos 10 to 1. It’s time the realized that. A big salute to Anonymous and any other group that bitch slaps the rich assholes running the country.

    • @Yossarian: Let’s be serious for a minute… Do you really wish for a President like Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales or Rafael Correa to rise in Panama and win the 2014 election? Why did you not mention Raul Castro, Daniel Ortega and Nicolas Maduro in your list of inept lumpen presidents??? By the way, Ricardo Martinelli is not a rabiblanco. On the other hand, Juan Carlos Navarro and Juan Carlos Varela are both rabiblancos as well as cousins!!!

      • This is all very much theoretical, you realize that I hope? Here in Panama we only elect the heads of bands of corruptos. Doesn’t matter which party wins.

But if I’d have to choose a foreign example, it would be the president of Uruguay.
